SKINPEN (MICRONEEDLING)

Microneedling

Microneedling, or SkinPen, at APRMS Medspa is designed to address acne scars, hyperpigmentation, stretch marks, skin texture as well as fine lines and wrinkles. SkinPen is the safest, most effective vertical microneedling device that offers state-of-the-art skin rejuvenating technology. By creating a series of hundreds of vertical microscopic channels into the dermis, SkinPen stimulates the natural production of new collagen and elastin. Traditional microneedling derma rollers can bend, break, or even rust. As a result, infection or scarring may occur with reuse. SkinPen is different. Through an optimized micro-channel creation, SkinPen uses straight needles to penetrate at a 90 degree angle to stimulate your skin’s natural ability to produce new collagen and elastin formation, encouraging your skin to look and feel healthier.

The SkinPen is designed to stimulate your skin’s natural ability to produce new collagen formation creating healthier, younger looking skin. The repair process of your skin is accelerated by the SkinPen through the creation of microscopic channels, which also allow products to penetrate into the deeper layers of the skin resulting in better product outcomes. This automated microneedling device works to trigger the body’s natural immune response to promote collagen production that helps transform blemished, damaged tissue, resulting in a smoother, more vibrant appearance.

What It Treats

Microneedling SkinPen can be used on all skin types at any time of the year for most patients, and has minimal downtime. The SkinPen is very versatile and can be used on all parts of the body, face, neck, décolleté, arms, hands, legs, abdomen, and back; which makes it especially helpful with addressing acne scars on the back and stretch marks on the body. It can treat many skin concerns, including fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, sun damage, and hyperpigmentation.

The benefits of Microneedling are:

  • Reverse sun damage
  • Address acne scars, stretch marks, and hyperpigmentation
  • Better product absorption
  • Safe for all skin types and tones
  • Enhance the overall appearance of aging skin

During The Treatment

Microneedling needles can penetrate the skin up to 2 mm. Generally speaking, the epidermis (the outer skin) can be as thick as 1.5 mm in areas like the soles of the feet. Your dermis – a potential problem area for melisma – is below the epidermis. In thick areas, it can be up to 3 mm thick. A 2 mm microneedling needle can usually reach the dermis to deliver those needed topicals and stimulate collagen production. During your treatment, a sterile and disposable cartridge containing 9-11 micro-needles is attached to the tip of the SkinPen. A thin layer of topical serum is applied to your skin and the appropriate micro-channeling treatment depth is selected for your unique type of skin. Next, in a gentle motion, the pen is glided across the targeted repair areas.

It causes controlled micro-injuries that stimulate your body’s natural wound healing process while minimizing cellular damage. The result is effective remodeling of scar tissue while keeping the overall structure of the skin intact.

There are three phases to the wound-repair process:

  • Phase I: Inflammation. Piercing the skin triggers your immune system to disinfect the wounds, remove debris, increase blood flow and begin to create new tissue.
  • Phase II: Proliferation. The wound is rebuilt with new granulation cells, which are part of the extracellular matrix. Additionally, a new network of blood vessels develops.
  • Phase III: Remodeling. The wound is replaced with new dermal tissues and blood vessels.

Microneedling With Prp And Exosomes

Using blood-derived growth factors (Platelet-rich plasma, or PRP), the microneedling facial procedure with PRP is a safe procedure for renewing the skin of the face and other body areas for correcting texture and color. When exosomes are applied topically to the skin during the microneedling treatment, they deliver their cargo of proteins, collagen types and growth factors. This aids in skin restoration, wound healing, firmness and elasticity. Exosomes are derived from adipose stem cells and contain 30+ collagen types, and 300+ growth factors. They are clinically proven to produce 300% more elastin and 600% more collagen than traditional treatments, making them an excellent choice for patients looking to restore their skin and hair health.

How Microneedling Combats Melasma

This treatment is a physical method of addressing melasma, as opposed to some hormonal treatments.

It isn’t simply the action of needles, which promote skin healing and collagen production, that addresses melasma. Microneedling also enhances the transdermal delivery of topicals to treat melasma.
